"THE YEAR OF THE FOX".
Many congratulations to "The Banogue Master", the one and only, Paddy Dwane on winning the Captain's Prize at the weekend. A brilliant 64 in the qualifier from the Septuagenarian followed by a tidy score in the 12 hole play off including a stupendous 4 at the 16th. Water what water?.
Yet another Captain's prize for Banogue!. "Not bad for a small village" commented Brendan Ryan who won the first. Indeed the second Banogue winner, John Chawke also qualified for this years play off and challenged strongly right up to the finish.
Paddy's humerous acceptance speech will long be remembered by the large gathering that attended the prize ceremonies. True to form Paddy gave us a blast of a song before the night was over. Is there no end to this man's talent ?.
The Captain, Mike Quaid thanked everyone that played over the weekend and paid special tribute to Seamus Lyons and his staff for a tremendous job on the course. Excellent test of golf but a very fair set up was the general comment from the 365 members & guests that played.
Congratulations to the prize winners and to everyone that played. Congratulations also to the many volunteers, that took the entries, checked the cards and helped with the playoff. Jimmy Kavanagh and company, take a well deserved bow!.
