President's Prize 2010. ( Mr Mike Laffan).
Lady Captain Ema O'Shea emerged triumphant from a top class field to capture the much coveted president's prize to the ladies with 40 points. Mary Liston finished in second place, also with 40 points but just lost out on the count back. A close affair. Eithne Hehir who is playing tremendous golf at present finished in 3rd place with 38 points. Ber Clarson claimed the gross with 29 points. Category prizes went to Anne McEvoy & Alice South with 38 points each. Best Friday, Aine McMahon, Best Saturday, Olive Connolly & Best Sunday, Sharon Bulfin. Helen Smith won the front nine and Joan Dore won the back nine. Special thanks to Alice South, Ladies Competition Secretary and her team for a great job at the weekend.
In the men's section, John Clancy posted a whopping 43 points early on Friday and many predicted that this would not be beaten. Wrong again, but it did hold out until 2pm on Sunday when Drumcollogher man, John P Collins posted a 44. All over claimed the experts!. At 3.30 it was all over again when Bruree native Mike Potter hand in a 45!. Now its over!. With just two fourballs out on the course, Nicholas Cooke, a long time member from Hospital in County Limerick claimed his first major with 46 points, time 6.30pm. It is said that one good shot can win a tournament, a stunning birdie, a par from nowhere, but in this case it a was a chip in at the 16th for a bogey and the ship was steadied. Plain sailing!. Many thanks to Jimmy Kavanagh, Men's Competition Secretary and his team for coming up trumps again. Congratulations to all the winners and indeed to everyone that played. Congratulations also to our President, Mike and his family for a memorable weekend. It was a massive success. Ask the 400!.

"THE YEAR OF THE FOX".
Many congratulations to "The Banogue Master", the one and only, Paddy Dwane on winning the Captain's Prize at the weekend. A brilliant 64 in the qualifier from the Septuagenarian followed by a tidy score in the 12 hole play off including a stupendous 4 at the 16th. Water what water?.
Yet another Captain's prize for Banogue!. "Not bad for a small village" commented Brendan Ryan who won the first. Indeed the second Banogue winner, John Chawke also qualified for this years play off and challenged strongly right up to the finish.
Paddy's humerous acceptance speech will long be remembered by the large gathering that attended the prize ceremonies. True to form Paddy gave us a blast of a song before the night was over. Is there no end to this man's talent ?.
The Captain, Mike Quaid thanked everyone that played over the weekend and paid special tribute to Seamus Lyons and his staff for a tremendous job on the course. Excellent test of golf but a very fair set up was the general comment from the 365 members & guests that played.
Congratulations to the prize winners and to everyone that played. Congratulations also to the many volunteers, that took the entries, checked the cards and helped with the playoff. Jimmy Kavanagh and company, take a well deserved bow!.
